Darryl Brohman OAM - affectionately known as 'The Big Marn' - is one of rugby league's larger than life characters and a popular personality with kids and parents alike. Darryl joined Starlight as an Ambassador in 2013 after experiencing Starlight's programs while co-hosting the NRL Footy Show. He helped us officially open the refurbished Starlight Express Room at the Children's Hospital at Westmead that same year.
Since then, Darryl has been a familiar face in our Starlight Express Rooms generously giving his time to visit kids and families in hospital. He has surprised Starlight families at the Children's Hospital at Westmead at Christmas, bringing much-needed joy to NRL fans stuck in hospital over the festive period!
"As a parent, knowing there's a Starlight Express Room in in all the children's hospitals throughout Australia is such a comfort. The Captain Starlights are phenomenal at putting smiles on everyone's faces," he said.
He has generously supported Starlight Day events and participated in our Community fundraising challenges over the years.
While also significantly supporting Starlight over the years by donating auction prizes for our signature fundraising events Star Ball and Starlight Five Chefs Dinners.
Darryl's energy and enthusiasm to bring fun and laughter to sick kids during the toughest times is nothing short of inspirational and we can’t thank him enough for his generous, long-term support!

ABOUT: A former Australian rugby league footballer and coach, Darryl is now best known as a sports commentator on Sydney’s 2GB's 'Continuous Call' team, covering the news and live games of the National Rugby League. In 2020, Darryl was awarded the Order of Australia for his services to Rugby League.
